There is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus. The virus originated in Wuhan City, Hubei Province but cases have been confirmed in other parts of China and in some countries, including the USA. See Health

With effect from 2 February, the US Government will not permit entry to the USA of any foreign nationals who have visited China 14 days or less prior to their travel to the USA. More information for travellers to the USA can be found on the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) website.

Heavy rainfall in Mississippi has caused flooding in areas surrounding the Pearl River, particularly in Jackson. A state of emergency has been declared. If you’re in the area, you should follow any evacuation orders and check on any road closures before travelling.

On 7 January 2020, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck around 10 kilometres off the coast of Puerto Rico. Although the aftershocks have subsided, there remains structural damage in the south-west of the island. If you’re in this area, you should exercise caution if travelling by road to Ponce and the south-west coast.
